swiss-us energy innovation days 2015 in zurich

Building on the success of the first Swiss-US Energy Innovation Days 2014 in Boston, the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE), the SIA and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) organized the 2015 edition at the Toni Areal in Zurich, from 19 to 21 August. The event provided a platform for the building energy sector to share experiences and expertise as well as explore business opportunities across borders. It was attended by around 400 participants from renowned companies and research institutes from both countries; 130 took part in the workshops and excursions held on the first two days. Key note speeches by US Ambassador Suzan LeVine and Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard during the closing session emphasized the importance of the Swiss-US Energy Innovation Days.

Pentecost marked the inauguration of the Salon Suisse at the Palazzo Trevisan degli Ulivi, along with the opening of the country pavilions at the Giardini. The Salon Suisse was organized by the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia and curated by Hosoya Schaefer Architects as part of the official programme accompanying the Architecture Biennale 2014. Complementing the exhibition at the Pavilion of Switzerland, the Salon Suisse under the heading The next 100 Years - Scenarios for an Alpine City State provided a platform for public debate on past and future Swiss building culture.

Over 200 visitors attended the Inaugural Session on 7 June, including guests of honour such as Federal Councillor Alain Berset, the Swiss Ambassador from Rome and the Swiss Honorary Council from Venice. The SIA was also represented by a delegation and actively supported the event as sponsor and contributor. The opening speech by SIA President Stefan Cadosch can be downloaded here.
